Want to know who is playing for all the 8 franchises in the 2022 campaign? BCCI announced the player retentions on 20 Jan 2022. The much-awaited IPL 2022 auction took place on 18 Feb 2022 in Chennai. 

The teams involved for the 14th edition of IPL are Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals,  and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The IPL 2022 tournament was started on 9 April in Chennai. Due to the current Covid-19 situation in India, the Indian premier league was suspended.

Indian Premier League 2022 is expected to restart from 18th to 20th September and the final will be played on 10th October. The three venues that will be hosting the matches are UAE, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

IPL 2022 Teams, Squads and Results

  • During the league phase, all 8 franchises will be competing against each other. 
  • In the group stage, each side will play 14 games.
  • At the end of the league stage, only the top 4 teams will be qualified to reach the play-offs.
  • For each win, 2 points are credited and 1 point is deducted in case of a lost match.

At present, Delhi capital is leading the scoreboard with 12 points & an NRR of +0.547. Chennai Super Kings are at 2nd position with 10 points and NRR of +1.263 and 3rd is RCB with 10 points and NRR of -0.171.

UAE as the preferred & potential Venue

It has happened for the first time in IPL history when the tournament has been postponed due to the current situation of COVID-19 in India. Rest, BCCI is yet to take a final decision on the restart of the IPL 2022 tournament in the bio bubble environment of the UAE
