IPL History (2008-present)

2008 Virendra Sehwag joined as captain. They managed to reach the semifinals but were knocked out by Rajasthan Royals.
2009 They reached the top of the table yet again pulled down in the semi-finals by Deccan chargers. Adam Gilchrist set a record of IPL’s fastest fifty in 17 balls.
2010 Delhi daredevils finished 5th with Dinesh Kartik as the new captain.
2011 The worst year for Delhi capitals when they ranked last on the points table, James hopes was the new captain.
2012 Delhi Capitals finished 3rd under the captainship of Mahela Jayawardene.
2013 Ross Taylor was appointed as the new captain. Again, they finished last i.e. at 9th position in the points table.
2014 DC again finished at the bottom in the UAE. David Warner was the new captain.
2015 Yuvraj Singh joined Delhi daredevils. They were highly criticized on the social media platform for their poor performance. They ranked at 7th position. Kevin Peterson became the new captain.
2016 DC reached playoffs and finished 6th on the points table. JP Duminy was the new captain.
2017 They ranked at 6th position in this IPL season. Zaheer khan was appointed as the captain.
2018 Gautam Gambhir became the captain yet again they ranked last. The next worst season of DC.
2019 The team changed their name to Delhi daredevils. Sourav Ganguly joined the team as an advisor. Shikhar Dhawan became part of the team. Shreyas Iyer was appointed as the new captain. As a result, DC reached play-offs and were 2nd runners-up.
2020 For the first time in IPL history, they reached the finals but were knocked out by defending champions; Mumbai Indians.
2021 Rishabh Pant is the new captain. Tom Curran, Sam billing, M Siddharth are the new additions.

Who is the owner of Delhi Capital?

Delhi Capitals (DC) is co-owned by the GMR group and the JSW group. GMR group bought this IPL franchise for  US$84 million. 

In March 2018, the JSW group bought the 50% stake of the franchise for INR 550 Crores about  US$85 million.

As per the deal, each company will swap every 2 years starting from IPL 2019.

Captain of DC 2021: Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant made his IPL debut in 2016. Also known as the swashbuckler; this left-handed batsman has played in U-19 World Cup 2016 in Bangladesh and won the tournament set a record for fastest half-century i.e. 74 off 28 balls. He made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2015 and scored a triple hundred against Maharashtra.
