IPL History (2008-present)

  • 2008: Sourav Ganguly was appointed as the captain. Boredom Mccullum set a record of highest unbeaten score of 158* by any other player in his IPL debut. Unfortunately, the team finished at 6th position in the points table.
  • 2009: KKR finished last with Brendon Mcculum as the new captain. The worst season of KKR.
  • 2010: The captains were again switched. Sourav Ganguly was the captain and still, KKR finished in 6th position.
  • 2011: Sourav Ganguly was removed from the team. KKR bought  Gautam Gambhir in the auction and was appointed as the new captain. The team for the 1st time reached play-offs and finished at 4th position. 
  • 2012: Sunil Narine grabbed all the limelight picking 24 wickets. The team made history by winning the IPL title for 1st time defeating Chennai Super Kings.
  • 2013: Suni Narine performance was applauded again for taking 22 wickets again. But, unfortunately, KKR finished at 6th position despite great performances.
  • 2014: KKR lifts the trophy again defeating Kings XI Punjab( Now Punjab Kings) in the finals. Robin Uthappa and Sunil Narine became the star performers.
  • 2015: Gautam Gambhir’s performance was highly criticized by fans. KKR finished the season at 5th position.
  • 2016: KKR finished at 4th position despite reaching in play-offs.
  • 2017:KKR Finished at 3rd position this time.
  • 2018: Dinesh Kartik became the new captain. KKR lost the plot n 2nd qualifiers and finished 3rd.
  • 2019: They lost 6 consecutive matches despite having a great start in the tournament. They ranked at 5th position in the points table.
  • 2020: KKR changed their captain in the midway of the season i.e. from Dinesh Kartik to Eoin Morgan. Unfortunately, they finished at the 5th position.
  • 2021: Shakib Al Hasan, Venkatesh Iyer, Sheldon Jackson, Harbhajan Singh, Vaibhav Arora, Ben Cutting, Karun Nair, and Pawan Negi are the new additions to the IPL team squad 2021.

KKR is co-owned by Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chilly Entertainment and Jay Mehta’s Mehta group. Jay Mehta is the spouse of Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla.
